MUMBAI: Talking about the Bollywood-Hollywood comparison at the Filmfare awards, Shah Rukh Khan said that he is often asked why film-makers don''t make blockbusters like the Titanic.

To which he quipped, Well, actually we do—we make them every year, spend crores on them, and watch with disbelief as they ''dubao'' hundreds of people." Not so Devdas'', the night''s big winner.

The amusing side to this annual show is that it ends up as one huge ''phamily phunction''—Rekha thanked Appa and Amma, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had mom in tow, Rani Mukherjee showered gratitude on "Yash Uncle", Shah Rukh on "Jaya Aunty", Fardeen trotted up with papa Feroze and Kabir teamed up with daughter Pooja.
As K3G would have us believe, it''s all about loving your parents..

Not to mention friends, well-wishers and canines, in true awards thanksgiving tradition. In her 19-minute acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Rekha whetted the audience''s curiosity by saying that she didn''t want to die without thanking all those who had touched her life. She then went on to thank everyone from C to Z.

Shilpa Shetty''s Shakalaka Baby number was a real boomer, but could have been a bloomer. Only those backstage know that she almost didn''t make her call on time because a zipper in her costume got stuck.

Finally, an ex-organiser''s closing plea. If only the stars could take their place in the galaxy of seats on time. What usually happens is that the supporting cast trickles in early and is ushered to the front rows. So,when the heros make their entry, additional rows of chairs have to be hastily positioned up front to maintain the pecking order.

At the start of the show, this writer was seated in the first row. By the end, he was in the sixth. If the organisers can crack this game of musical chairs, they deserve a Lifetime Achievement Award.
